Regional Preparedness Coordinator

About the role

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) seeks a Regional Preparedness Coordinator to lead emergency planning and preparedness activities for the R6 Preparedness and Response Section. This on‑site role involves developing plans, providing technical assistance, and supporting response operations across local, state, and federal partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, write, review, and revise all types of emergency management plans.
• Provide technical assistance to agencies in creating preparedness programs.
• Coordinate and facilitate preparedness meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare reports, presentations, briefings, and other documentation.
• Research emergency management doctrine, guidance, and best‑practice literature.
• Serve as liaison to internal and external partners and represent TDEM in training and exercises.
• Participate in response and recovery operations, including activation of emergency operation centers.

Required profile

• Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and extended deployments during emergencies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting plans and presenting information.
• Self‑directed with initiative and independent judgment while maintaining coordination with TDEM programs.
