Regional Maintenance Manager III

About the role

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is seeking a Manager III to oversee daily maintenance operations across seventeen facilities in Region II. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Maintenance Operations, the role is based at the George Beto Unit in Tennessee Colony and supports the Facilities Division Headquarters in Huntsville.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate maintenance activities for multiple correctional facilities.
• Supervise maintenance staff and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Plan and schedule work to minimize downtime and meet regional maintenance goals.
• Travel extensively (up to 75% of the time) to conduct site visits and oversee projects.
• Maintain accurate records and reports on maintenance performance.

Required profile

• Criminal justice experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• At least eight years of full‑time experience in construction, maintenance, or public administration.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance processes within a correctional environment.
• Detail‑oriented, able to multitask, and a strong work ethic.
