About the role
The Regional Issues Expert will serve on the UN Panel of Experts established under Security Council resolution 1591 (2005). Reporting to the Security Council Committee and the Security Council, the expert works under the guidance of the Security Council Affairs Division.
Key responsibilities
- Provide substantive knowledge and analysis on the implementation of the sanctions regime.
- Monitor and report on regional developments relevant to the sanctions on Sudan.
- Prepare and contribute to the Panel’s reports and other relevant documentation.
- Coordinate with the Panel’s Coordinator and other UN bodies as required.
Required profile
- Demonstrated expertise in areas relevant to UN sanctions and political peacebuilding.
- Experience working on international or regional issues, preferably related to Sudan.
- Ability to work under the direction of the Security Council Committee and senior UN officials.
