Recycling Laborer

About the role

The Recycling Laborer supports Georgetown University’s campus‑wide recycling and solid waste program. Working under direct supervision, you will help keep waste collection areas clean, organized, and functional while handling a variety of recyclable materials.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, lift, and empty containers up to 50 lb, including indoor trash and recycling bins.
• Operate unit vehicles to transport waste to designated disposal stations.
• Use bailers, forklifts, and pallet jacks to move and process materials.
• Clean and disinfect vehicles, collection areas, and containers.
• Maintain signage and ensure disposal areas are fully functional.
• Assist with snow‑removal operations as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Department of Transportation (DOT) health certificate.
• At least two years of general labor or manual work experience.
• Experience in recycling or solid‑waste management preferred.

Required skills

• DOT health certification.
• Operation of commercial vehicles with a GVWR up to 26 000 lb.
• Forklift operation.
• Pallet jack operation.
• Use of bailers and other waste‑handling equipment.
