Recreation Supervisor

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Recreation Supervisor to lead an evidence‑based recreation program for youth in a residential facility. You will design and deliver daily leisure activities that promote decision‑making, physical fitness, and social skills.

Key responsibilities

• Instruct and supervise youth in organized recreation and leisure schedules.
• Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse abilities and interests.
• Oversee part‑time recreational workers, including scheduling, training, and performance monitoring.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, prepare requisitions, and conduct quarterly inventories.
• Document service delivery in daily log books and ensure compliance with DJJ policies.
• Develop monthly and out‑of‑school activity calendars.
• Participate in staff recruitment, interviews, and onboarding.
• Conduct rounds in housing units to ensure services for isolated or protective custody youth.
• Assist with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) events as needed.

Required profile

• Under general supervision, capable of instructing youth in evidence‑based recreation programs.
• Experience supervising part‑time staff and coordinating schedules.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and manage inventory.
• Strong communication with facility HR and management teams.
