Receiving Warehouse Specialist

About the role
The Receiving Warehouse Specialist supports the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ loading dock and mailroom operations on a part‑time basis. The role is responsible for processing all incoming deliveries, ensuring items are received, logged, and distributed efficiently throughout the museum.
Key responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the museum’s loading dock, receiving a wide variety of materials, supplies, food, beverages, and equipment.
- Load and unload palletized freight using electric and manual pallet jacks.
- Ship packages and freight with UPS and FedEx in the most cost‑effective manner.
- Maintain a safe, clean, well‑maintained, and secure work environment.
- Deliver received packages and freight to the requesting departments promptly.
- Maintain a daily log of incoming shipments.
- Distribute heavy stationary, printed materials, and copy paper upon request.
Required profile
- Ability to work part‑time and perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving freight.
- Attention to detail for accurate logging and distribution of items.
- Commitment to safety and cleanliness in the work area.
Required skills
- Operation of electric pallet jack.
- Operation of manual pallet jack.
- Handling and unloading palletized freight.
- Shipping packages using UPS and FedEx services.
