R&D Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer (R&D Focused) to play a key role in building PDCflow’s next‑generation payment and transaction platform. You will be a hands‑on backend engineer designing, writing, and delivering core features while also researching emerging technologies and building rapid proofs‑of‑concept.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production‑ready RESTful APIs and backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Write efficient SQL, design relational schemas, and optimise PostgreSQL performance for high‑volume transaction processing.
• Package, run, and optimise containerised services with Docker across development and deployment environments.
• Research, benchmark, and create targeted proofs‑of‑concept for emerging tools and architectural patterns.
• Experiment with AI‑assisted developer workflows (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate refactoring, testing, and feature delivery.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on software development experience with a strong backend focus.
• Solid proficiency in Core Java and the Spring Framework for building robust services.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL database design and optimisation.
• Experience using Docker for local development and containerisation.
• Demonstrated exploratory mindset, testing new libraries, tools, and utilities independently.
