Quartermaster – Fire Department Logistics

About the role

The City of Pearland is hiring a full‑time Quartermaster to manage the day‑to‑day logistical operations of its Fire Department. This position ensures that vehicles, equipment, uniforms, and supplies are maintained, tracked, and ready for emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee vehicle maintenance, readiness, and tracking using spreadsheets or a tracking system.
• Coordinate vehicle repairs with the city shop and monitor work order status.
• Issue, order, maintain, and distribute uniforms, bunker gear, and all department‑issued apparel.
• Track and document all equipment, including SCBA, tools, EMS supplies, radios, and other assets.
• Report defective parts to facilities maintenance and ensure building compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Supervise outside vendors, verify completion of work orders, and ensure accuracy of services.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum two years of logistics, data entry, or related experience.
• Ability to obtain or learn NFPA standards within one year.
• Valid Class B Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• Experience in a paramilitary or fire service environment is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., 10, 17, 232, 1801, 1851, 1852, 1858, 1911, 1912, 1931, 1932, 1936, 1961‑1964, 1971, 1981‑1983, 1989).
• Familiarity with NIMS 300 and 400.
• Proficiency in Excel for tracking and reporting.
