Quality Engineer

About the role

Moog is seeking a Quality Engineer to join its Defense Controls Group in the Buffalo, NY area. The role focuses on establishing and managing quality programs that meet stringent aerospace and defense standards, ensuring product reliability and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex inspection plans for receiving, manufacturing, assembly, test, and first‑article inspections.
• Design, implement, and administer cost‑effective quality programs, including traceability, contamination, and configuration‑control plans.
• Ensure contract compliance by coordinating customer, government, and regulatory audits and managing flow‑down requirements.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and handle non‑conformances in mission‑critical, process‑oriented environments.
• Generate AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports and support continuous‑improvement initiatives using statistical methods.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or a related STEM field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in electronics manufacturing and at least 2 years in a quality‑engineering role.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance.

Required skills

• Familiarity with AS9100, ASME Y14.5, IPC‑A‑600, IPC‑A‑610, and other MIL standards.
• Root‑cause analysis and non‑conformance handling.
• Electronics lab protocols (ESD, FOD) and test‑equipment handling.
• Lean Six Sigma methodology (certification preferred).
• Statistical analysis, spreadsheet, word‑processing, and database software proficiency.
