Quality Engineer – Functional

About the role

Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Functional Quality Engineer to support MFC production sites. The role focuses on identifying and implementing ideal production processes, technology insertions, and automation opportunities that increase yield, reduce cost, and improve product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop business cases for automation solutions with clear ROI justification.
• Evaluate, select, and integrate scalable technology solutions into existing production workflows.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve complex quality and production challenges.
• Provide technical liaison support for quality and production engineering matters.
• Drive continuous‑process improvement initiatives and strengthen the Quality Management System.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial & Systems, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or production operations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership.
• Effective project management and interpersonal skills, including team building and collaboration.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AS9100, Six Sigma, Lean, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Proficiency in root‑cause analysis techniques such as 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and process mapping.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
• Familiarity with manufacturing documentation, failure reporting, and corrective‑action facilitation.
