Purchasing & Procurement Specialist (Board of Regents)

About the role

The Board of Regents Division of Finance and Administration seeks a Purchasing & Procurement Specialist to provide procurement, purchasing, and contracting services for the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON). The role supports the organization’s operational and financial objectives by managing the acquisition of materials, supplies, equipment, and services.

Key responsibilities

• Execute procurement and purchasing processes for LUMCON, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
• Draft, review, and manage contracts and agreements for grant awards and sub‑awards.
• Collaborate with Division staff to align purchasing activities with budgetary and operational goals.
• Utilize the LaGov Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to process orders, track expenditures, and generate reports.
• Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and provide analytical support for purchasing decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Professional experience in purchasing, procurement, accounting, finance, or a related business field.
• Knowledge of purchasing processes and related accounting concepts.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, be self‑motivated, and function effectively within a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with the LaGov ERP system.
