Purchasing Agent

About the role

The Purchasing Agent supports Greystar's business operations by ordering the products and materials needed for daily activities. The role maintains supplier relationships, places orders based on inventory needs, and tracks shipments to ensure timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of supplier requirements and ensure compliance with processes.
• Evaluate suppliers on price, quality, availability, reliability, and other criteria.
• Interview vendors and visit supplier facilities to assess products, services, and pricing.
• Request cost proposals, negotiate contracts and prices, and coordinate with legal to secure favorable terms.
• Use the inventory tracking system to record stock levels and anticipate future supply needs.
• Verify purchases against a master list and suggest alternatives for costly or irrelevant items.
• Coordinate with suppliers to schedule deliveries, confirm shipment deadlines, and resolve shipping errors.
• Prepare and process purchase orders, maintaining records of all transactions, receipts, and inventories.
• Collaborate with factory operations and warehousing to maintain sufficient product levels.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of supplier management and procurement processes.
• Ability to evaluate and compare vendor offerings based on multiple criteria.
• Experience negotiating contracts and working with legal teams.
• Proficiency in using inventory tracking systems to monitor stock.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with suppliers, operations, and warehousing teams.
