Publishing Assistant – Hybrid (NY/Philadelphia)

About the role

Springer Nature is seeking a motivated Publishing Assistant to support its Medicine & Life Sciences Journals Group. Working under the Executive Publisher, you will provide administrative and project‑management assistance for journals in Neuroscience, Psychiatry, and Pharmacology, while gaining broad exposure to the publishing industry.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a primary contact for Editors‑in‑Chief, Editorial Board members, and society partners, ensuring responsive and professional communication.
• Support journal targets for submissions, publications, and turnaround times through meticulous operational oversight.
• Handle inquiries from internal stakeholders and external partners, delivering timely and accurate responses.
• Prepare materials for reports, conferences, and Editorial Board meetings, including PowerPoint presentations.
• Manage annual journal reports, monitor schedules, and compile performance metrics such as citations and usage.
• Lead editorial projects like editor recruitment, performance reporting, ethics investigations, and invoice management.
• Maintain journal data in systems such as JFlow and CoreMedia Studio, ensuring data accuracy.
• Collaborate across Editorial, Production, Marketing, and other departments to coordinate deadlines and support journal operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in a relevant discipline.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Proactive problem‑solver with a customer‑focused mindset.

Required skills

• Experience with publishing workflows and editorial management systems.
• Knowledge of JFlow, CoreMedia Studio, or similar publishing platforms.
• Ability to prepare reports, presentations, and professional correspondence.
