Publicist – Longform Team

About the role

ABC News is seeking a Publicist to join the Longform team supporting ABC News Studios and flagship programs such as “20/20,” “Nightline,” “IMPACT x Nightline,” and “The View.” The role will drive publicity strategies, craft press materials, and build relationships with talent, producers, and media outlets.

Key responsibilities

• Write and distribute press releases, announcements, and ratings materials.
• Develop and execute publicity strategies, including creating press‑site pages, screeners, and messaging.
• Identify and secure promotional opportunities and partnerships.
• Build and maintain relationships with talent, producers, journalists, and content creators.
• Pitch stories to targeted media and coordinate appearances.
• Organize promotional events, junkets, and logistical details for talent and press.
• Monitor media coverage, produce recaps for executives, and flag issues.
• Research new promotional avenues, make recommendations, and set up meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or a related field.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure news environment.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to multitask.
• Professionalism, integrity, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to work overtime on short notice and handle pressure effectively.
