Public Policy Director – Developmental Disabilities

About the role

The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) seeks a seasoned Public Policy Director to lead its public policy program. Based in Atlanta, you will shape policies that expand opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Administer GCDD’s public policy portfolio and oversee collaborative projects with community partners.
• Work closely with the Executive Director, Chief Program Officer, and Public Policy Coordinator to design and implement comprehensive policy strategies.
• Conduct policy analysis, review legislative proposals, and assess impacts on the Council’s focus areas.
• Provide timely information and recommendations to state leaders, constituents, and other stakeholders.
• Initiate new policy initiatives and monitor their progress.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public policy development, preferably within government or nonprofit sectors.
• Strong understanding of developmental disabilities issues and related legislation.
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
