Public Information Officer

About the role

The City of Apache Junction is seeking a Public Information Officer to serve as the primary spokesperson and manage the city’s communications, public affairs, and marketing programs. This role will enhance community awareness of city services, events, and projects while fostering a positive public perception.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate information to citizens, media, and stakeholders through news releases, statements, and direct inquiries.
• Coordinate public information during emergencies and support inter‑agency communication.
• Engage with neighborhoods, council members, and city staff to address questions, process event applications, and mediate community disputes.
• Manage the city’s social‑media channels (Facebook, Twitter) and maintain the official website.
• Develop and deliver educational programs, speaker events, and community outreach initiatives.
• Prepare talking points, letters, and other communication materials for staff and elected officials.
• Research and submit award applications and conduct city surveys.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
