Public Health Physician

About the role

The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a qualified Physician to join its National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases in Atlanta, Georgia. This position focuses on public health practice and the clinical management of emerging infectious threats. The role will support surveillance activities and contribute to research initiatives aimed at preventing disease transmission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services and medical oversight within the Center’s public health programs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor, investigate, and respond to emerging and zoonotic infectious disease events.
• Assist in data collection and analysis related to disease outbreaks.
• Contribute to the development of public health policies, guidelines, and educational materials.
• Provide clinical consultation to public health officials.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian school, or equivalent foreign degree with recognized equivalency.
• Current, unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
• At least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or first year of residency) in an accredited program.
