Public Health Nurse – U.S. Army

About the role

Join the U.S. Army as a Public Health Nurse and support the health and readiness of service members, their families, retirees, DoD civilians, and host‑nation communities. You will work on base and during humanitarian missions, applying your nursing expertise to protect and promote public health.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, enforce, and enhance health and safety regulations across military installations.
• Monitor, control, and prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based public health programs.
• Support humanitarian missions and community health initiatives.
• Collaborate with medical and leadership teams to improve existing public health efforts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and successful NCLEX completion.
• Current, unrestricted RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience as an RN in the United States, D.C., Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
• Meet public health RN experience requirements per current Army guidance.
• U.S. citizenship, Green Card, or I‑551 holder for Active Duty or Reserve service.

Required skills
