Public Affairs Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is seeking a Public Affairs Specialist to lead its social media presence and support the Public & Governmental Affairs Office. This position plays a critical role in shaping how the agency communicates with the public and media.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement social media strategies across all GBI platforms.
• Create engaging content, including graphics, videos, carousels, and written posts.
• Manage day‑to‑day communication with the public via social channels.
• Analyze audience engagement data to refine content tactics.
• Assist in drafting and editing news releases.
• Respond to media inquiries promptly.
• Oversee the production and distribution of the GBI podcast.
• Coordinate and supervise interns supporting public affairs activities.

Required profile

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work extended hours and travel statewide as needed.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Required skills

• Strong social media content creation and management.
• Basic graphic and video editing capabilities.
• Experience with podcast production.
