About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking qualified psychologists to provide comprehensive mental health services at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville. This full‑time position supports individuals with behavioral health and developmental disabilities through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychological assessments, including cognitive, adaptive, and behavioral evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based treatment plans.
• Provide individual, group, and family therapy using appropriate therapeutic modalities.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and direct‑care staff to ensure integrated client care.
• Participate in case conferences, treatment team meetings, and supervision sessions.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
• Offer crisis intervention and de‑escalation support as needed.
• Deliver training and consultation to staff on psychological principles and best practices.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA‑accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted license as a Psychologist in Georgia (or eligibility for licensure).
• Completion of an APA‑approved pre‑doctoral internship.
• 1–3 years of post‑doctoral experience working with behavioral health or developmental disability populations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
