Psychiatrist & Medical Director, Inpatient Behavioral Health

About the role

CareMind Health, the clinical services affiliate of Mindoula Health, seeks a board‑certified psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of the 24‑bed adult inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. This high‑impact leadership position combines clinical attending duties with operational oversight of the behavioral health service line.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Medical Director for the inpatient behavioral health program and lead quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Act as weekday attending psychiatrist for the inpatient BHU and adult Partial Hospitalization Program, including multidisciplinary rounds, treatment planning, and complex consults.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance of psychiatric providers and Advanced Practice Providers.
• Represent psychiatry at facility and executive meetings and serve on the Medical Executive Committee.
• Ensure documentation compliance (≥95% same‑day) and timely billing.

Required profile

• Board‑certified psychiatrist with a minimum of 3 years of psychiatry experience.
• Strong background in inpatient psychiatry and consult‑liaison services.
• Demonstrated leadership experience or interest in leadership development.
• Commitment to quality improvement, documentation excellence, and provider volume expectations.

Required skills

• Board certification in psychiatry.
• Experience conducting capacity assessments, involuntary documentation, and emergency department consults.
