Protocol Software Engineer – Consensus

About the role

Sei Labs is building the high‑performance Sei blockchain, the first parallelized EVM Layer 1 designed to scale with industry demand. The company seeks a Protocol Software Engineer to lead development of core blockchain components, focusing on consensus and state management. The role involves low‑level systems design, performance optimization, and close collaboration with frontend teams and ecosystem partners to drive the future of decentralized networks.

Key responsibilities

• Write code to build the core Sei blockchain, including consensus and state management.
• Proactively identify and implement optimizations and improvements to the product.
• Collaborate with the frontend team to fine‑tune the REST API supporting customers.
• Take ownership of your work and guide the team’s deliverables.

Required profile

• 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience.
• Proven results in building or scaling Layer 1 blockchain performance.
• Demonstrated tech‑lead experience planning and leading large, long‑term projects.
• Strong technical judgment and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Capability to tackle complex engineering problems and deliver results.
• History of creating and applying new processes and tooling to increase engineering efficiency.
