Project Manager – Utility‑Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

About the role

The Project Manager will lead technical, financial, and regulatory planning for utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from early development through construction readiness. This role blends advanced engineering, economic analysis, and project‑management expertise to optimize scope, risk, and financial feasibility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead pre‑construction planning and optimization, integrating engineering design, financial modeling, procurement strategy, and regulatory constraints.
• Coordinate matrixed development teams to keep resources aligned with project schedules.
• Manage environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, and interconnection variables for comprehensive project development.
• Develop and refine technical scope to improve feasibility and support PPA and GIA negotiations.
• Collaborate with engineering, estimating, and procurement to build robust financial models and designs.
• Source, negotiate, and execute contracts for geotechnical, survey, engineering, and EPC/PC services.
• Represent Engineering & Construction interests with executives, suppliers, regulators, and community stakeholders.
• Present project progress, risk mitigation, and financial models to senior management and ensure smooth handover to Construction Project Managers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of project‑management experience, preferably in engineering, economics, or construction.
• Experience with renewable‑energy projects, electricity markets, and battery storage is a plus.
• Strong ability to analyze market data and build robust financial models.
