Project Manager – Building Automation

About the role

Precision Control Systems, a member of the Hill Group, is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex building automation projects for public entities in Illinois and Indiana. The role involves overseeing projects up to $7 million, ensuring safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery while coordinating design, installation, and commissioning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret mechanical and electrical control concepts, MEP coordination, and HVAC design intent from construction drawings and specifications.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, manage equipment and material deliveries, and coordinate with engineers, electricians, and programming technicians.
• Lead pre‑construction planning, RFI handling, change orders, submittals, and communication with architects, owners, and contractors.
• Track job costs, monthly billings, and ensure accurate documentation of field mark‑ups and as‑built drawings.
• Oversee commissioning, close‑out activities, and maintain a safe work environment compliant with company policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, general contracting, or construction management environments preferred.
• Proven ability to meet critical deadlines, solve complex technical problems, and mentor team members.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
• Knowledge of building automation systems and MEP coordination.
