Project Manager 2 – Capital Project Manager

About the role

The Capital Project Manager leads LSU's capital construction initiatives, overseeing professional design consultants from concept through construction and warranty phases. This role ensures projects align with university standards and are delivered on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the university’s representative during construction, mediating disputes between contractors, architects, and university stakeholders.
• Track and report project costs, schedules, and delays; approve change orders and payment requests.
• Coordinate with State Facility Planning & Control, architects, engineers, LSU maintenance staff, and contractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Enforce University Design Standards and manage non‑contract work performed by internal departments.
• Arrange utility interruptions, contractor parking, material staging, and site cleanliness inspections.
• Represent the university on State Facility Planning projects exceeding $1 M.
• Manage professional design consultants throughout the project lifecycle, from preliminary concept to final close‑out and warranty.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in capital construction management.
• Ability to coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of university design standards and state facility planning processes.
