Project Engineer - Water Resources

About the role

Matrix Design Group, an employee‑owned engineering and environmental consulting firm, is looking for a Project Engineer to join its Water Resources Group in Colorado Springs or Denver. The role focuses on delivering engineering design, construction, and permitting services for water‑related projects.

Key responsibilities

• Administer small to mid‑size water resources projects from planning through construction.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for urban drainage, stream restoration, and water‑quality improvements.
• Prepare construction drawings and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Analyze hydrology and hydraulic data, including FEMA floodplain mapping.
• Perform statistical analysis for hydrology and water‑quality studies.
• Maintain project scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring quality assurance.
• Communicate progress and issues to project teams and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Assist with proposal writing, cost estimating, and client relationship management.

Required profile

• Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with water resources engineering projects is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Hydraulics/hydrology software (e.g., FEMA floodplain mapping tools).
