Project Engineer – Solar & Energy Storage (Electrical)

About the role

Our client, a leading renewable energy developer, is looking for a Project Engineer – Solar & Energy Storage to support utility‑scale solar generation and battery storage projects from early development through construction and commercial operation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support across the full project lifecycle, from greenfield development to commercial operation.
• Lead technical due‑diligence for utility‑scale solar and battery storage projects.
• Develop engineering specifications, one‑line diagrams, technical exhibits, and supporting documentation for EPC contracts.
• Coordinate engineering activities during execution, including technical reviews, issue resolution and design optimisation.
• Evaluate alternatives to improve performance, constructability, reliability and financial outcomes.
• Support EPC contractor selection by reviewing technical proposals and assisting contract development.
• Specify, evaluate and procure major electrical equipment, including high‑voltage systems.
• Integrate owner‑furnished and EPC‑provided equipment.
• Provide engineering support for utility interconnection, coordinating with utilities and independent system operators.

Required profile

• Electrical Engineer with experience on large utility‑scale solar or solar‑plus‑battery storage projects.
• Proven ability to work across development, engineering, procurement, construction, utilities and executive teams.
• Strong understanding of project economics and long‑term operational performance.

Required skills

• Electrical engineering design for solar PV and battery storage.
• High‑voltage system design and integration.
• Creation of one‑line diagrams and engineering specifications.
• EPC contract review and technical due‑diligence.
• Utility interconnection coordination.
