Project Engineer – Municipal Infrastructure

About the role

Artheon, a trusted engineering and consulting firm, is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join its Municipal Engineering team. You will support the planning, design, and delivery of public infrastructure projects that improve safety, sustainability, and quality of life across New Jersey.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports for municipal projects.
• Design roadway, drainage, stormwater, utility, grading, and site improvements using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Develop calculations for roadway geometry, stormwater systems, water distribution, and sanitary sewer improvements.
• Coordinate designs with municipal officials, utility companies, county agencies, and regulatory authorities.
• Prepare permit applications for NJDEP, county, and local agencies.
• Assist Project Managers with scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, and overall project execution.
• Conduct field investigations, site inspections, and construction observations.
• Review contractor shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, payment applications, and change orders.
• Attend client, council, and planning board meetings as required.
• Support proposal preparation, scopes of work, and cost estimating.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical quality control.
