Project Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction

About the role

Join a leading heavy civil contractor as a Project Engineer, supporting field operations and project management from pre‑construction through completion. You will work closely with experienced Project Managers and Superintendents on large transportation, utility, and site‑development projects across Ohio and the Midwest.

Key responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with planning, scheduling, and coordination of active construction projects.
• Assist in procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Coordinate subcontractor activities to maintain project schedules.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and provide on‑site support.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including production reports, quantity tracking, meeting minutes, and field reports.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs, pricing requests, and estimating activities.
• Review supplier and subcontractor proposals for completeness and competitiveness.
• Communicate effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and design teams.
• Help ensure projects remain organized, efficient, and compliant with company standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
• Minimum two years of construction industry experience (acceptable in lieu of degree).
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Desire to build a long‑term career in heavy civil construction.
