Project Engineer – Construction Services (Pensacola, FL)

About the role

The company is seeking a Project Engineer to lead Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I) services for transportation, roadway, bridge, drainage and public infrastructure projects in Pensacola, FL. The role involves overseeing construction administration, contractor coordination, quality assurance, schedule management and project delivery for complex public works.

Key responsibilities

• Manage CE&I activities for roadway, bridge, drainage, utility and infrastructure construction projects.
• Act as the owner’s representative, leading inspections and project staff on site.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, government agencies, utility providers and stakeholders.
• Review and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications and contract modifications.
• Monitor contractor performance, schedules, budgets and compliance with contract requirements.
• Conduct field inspections of roadway, bridge, drainage, paving, structures and utilities.
• Perform quantity verification, prepare daily reports and manage project records.
• Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts and ensure compliance with FDOT standards and safety regulations.
• Support project close‑out, final acceptance and post‑construction documentation.

Required profile

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Florida or ability to obtain licensure by endorsement.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Experience managing FDOT, municipal or public‑sector transportation projects.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Understanding of roadway, bridge, drainage, asphalt and concrete paving, traffic control and utility construction.
• Demonstrated experience with contract administration, change orders, estimates and construction documentation.
