Project Director – Heavy Industrial Construction

About the role

Our client, a privately‑held design‑build contractor, is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead large‑scale heavy industrial construction projects from award through closeout. The role combines hands‑on leadership with responsibility for safety, schedule, budget, quality, client satisfaction and team performance across food & beverage, agriculture and industrial processing markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall project execution from award to completion and closeout.
• Set clear goals, schedules, budgets and expectations for multidisciplinary project teams.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively resolving issues.
• Plan manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, logistics and scheduling.
• Manage project costs, financial performance and change orders.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning and turnover.
• Identify risks and develop practical mitigation solutions.
• Lead Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, Engineers and other personnel.
• Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance and handle RFIs, submittals, claims and commercial matters.
• Maintain rigorous safety and quality standards and ensure proper documentation, punch lists and closeout.

Required profile

• Significant experience directing large‑scale heavy industrial construction projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple contractors, trades, vendors and stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of industrial construction methods, sequencing, scheduling and project controls.
• Demonstrated experience with budgets, cost control, change orders and financial performance.
• Excellent leadership, communication and client‑relationship skills.
• Ability to make timely decisions and take ownership of project challenges.
