Project Controller

About the role

Vopak is seeking a Project Controller to oversee financial reporting, cost control, and forecasting for sustaining and growth capital projects across its regions. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring project budgets are accurate, costs are monitored, and financial performance aligns with the company’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Track, monitor, forecast, and report on sustaining CAPEX project costs.
• Provide cost‑control support to project teams and senior management.
• Gather cost information from contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Reconcile cost‑tracking tools with enterprise accounting systems.
• Prepare accruals and ensure compliance with accrual‑based accounting standards.
• Identify cost variances and advise project managers on corrective actions.

Required profile

• Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/controlling, with a focus on cost forecasting, cost accounting, or project accounting.
• Proven ability to assess project cost status and communicate concerns to management.
• Experience in an accrual‑based accounting environment, preferably in petroleum, petrochemical, or related industries.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work under multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (expert level).
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems.
