Project Architect – Lead Architectural Projects

About the role

Barrientos Design & Consulting is looking for a Project Architect/Architectural Project Lead to drive the technical and design coordination of projects from schematic design through construction. This full‑time position works onsite in downtown Milwaukee and bridges the Principal’s design vision with the Project Manager’s execution responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Translate design concepts into detailed, code‑compliant construction documents.
• Lead schematic design, design development, and construction drawing sets.
• Coordinate and review consultant deliverables to ensure seamless integration.
• Conduct quality‑control reviews of drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Research applicable codes, ordinances, and sustainable design standards.
• Support construction phase by reviewing RFIs, submittals, and conducting site visits.
• Mentor Design Architects and interns, fostering knowledge sharing across the firm.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
• Licensed architect or actively pursuing licensure.
• 5–10 years of professional architectural experience.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction documentation standards.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Advanced Excel skills.
