Project Architect

About the role

AYON Studio Architecture Preservation, P.C., located on Union Square in Manhattan, provides integrated architecture, historic preservation, and materials conservation services. The firm is seeking a Project Architect to lead design solutions for landmark and historic building projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement design concepts for a variety of existing landmark projects.
• Collaborate directly with the Principal and Project Manager to produce schematic, design development, and construction documents.
• Conduct site analysis and ensure compliance with zoning, code, and regulatory requirements (LPC, DOB, SHPO).
• Coordinate architectural design with interior design, sustainability, historic preservation, structural and MEP engineering throughout all phases.
• Prepare bid packages, compare bids, and assist in contract award.
• Review contractor work during construction and manage project progress with senior staff.
• Update marketing materials and support in‑house business development activities.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of architectural practice, primarily on New York City projects involving landmark design and regulatory submissions.
• Architectural degree (B.Arch or M.Arch) or related Master’s degree.
• Demonstrated progress toward passing the ARE exams.
• Strong written and verbal communication, self‑driven, and able to meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with BIM using Revit (mandatory).
• Experience with computer‑aided design (CAD).
• Competence in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
