Program Officer, Instructional Design

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Program Officer for Instructional Design to lead the design and delivery of high‑quality training and learning resources for the Switchboard project. This remote position supports service providers across the United States, helping them build capacity for refugee resettlement and related services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and produce instructional materials, including eLearning courses, instructor‑led trainings, webinars, and self‑paced modules.
• Serve as the producer for Switchboard webinars and virtual meetings.
• Research and recommend innovative instructional design practices and ensure they are incorporated into all learning resources.
• Lead updates and maintenance of existing Switchboard learning assets.
• Champion a culture of continuous learning and identify professional development opportunities for the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum four years of experience developing and implementing training, technical assistance, or capacity‑building programs.
• Experience managing complex projects with strict timelines and contributing to monitoring & evaluation activities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to build capacity at multiple staff levels.

Required skills

• Instructional design and curriculum development.
• eLearning development and virtual multimedia training production (webinars, online courses, self‑paced modules).
• Data collection, management, and reporting for M&E.

What we offer

• Annual salary between $80,000 and $85,000.
