Program Manager, Materials Planning

About the role

Applied Materials, the global leader in materials science and engineering solutions, is seeking a Program Manager, Materials Planning. In this role you will own material planning for products and parts with complex, changing, and customer‑specific demand, ensuring the right parts are available at the right time.

Key responsibilities

• Own material planning activities to keep parts availability aligned with customer demand.
• Validate demand changes with customers and internal teams, driving forecast updates when needed.
• Balance supply, demand, inventory levels, and customer commitments, adjusting assumptions as conditions evolve.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to surface demand shifts, planning risks, and inventory exposure early.
• Lead resolution of planning exceptions, conduct root‑cause investigations, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage inventory exposure, including excess and obsolescence, and identify substitution or rework opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, operations, and customer support across regions to align planning strategy.

Required profile

• Experience in materials planning, supply chain planning, demand planning, manufacturing operations, product lifecycle management, engineering, or program management.
• Comfort with data analysis and reporting tools such as ERP/MRP (SAP, Oracle), planning tools (Kinaxis), and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, advanced Excel).
• Exposure to demand forecasting, supply planning, inventory management, or lifecycle transitions.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional work without formal authority.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, operations, business, or equivalent practical experience.

What we offer

• Salary range: $88,000 – $121,000 per year.
• Location: Austin, TX (onsite).
