About the role
A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is seeking a Program Manager to lead the Gear Monitoring Team, overseeing the planning, execution, and reporting of gear monitoring activities that support compliance with environmental regulations along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Key responsibilities
- Lead construction, maintenance, and deployment of selective fishing gear (TEDs and BRDs) for research, training, and compliance.
- Operate and maintain Mississippi Laboratory research vessels, including transport and equipment handling.
- Obtain and maintain USCG licenses and NOAA Small Boat Program compliance.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver outreach and training for commercial fishers, industry stakeholders, and law‑enforcement personnel.
- Conduct at‑sea and dockside inspections, document compliance, and manage inspection data.
- Prepare monthly and biannual compliance reports and technical presentations.
- Represent the program at industry and government meetings and support emergency response efforts.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing fisheries gear monitoring or similar environmental compliance programs.
- Hands‑on experience with selective fishing gear (TEDs, BRDs) construction and deployment.
- Familiarity with USCG licensing and NOAA Small Boat Program requirements.
- Ability to coordinate training, stakeholder engagement, and multi‑agency collaboration.
