Program Manager for Community and Civic Engagement

About the role

The Program Manager for Community and Civic Engagement leads a portfolio of community‑engaged programs at the Carleton College Center for Community and Civic Engagement. This full‑time (0.92 FTE) position supervises student leaders, coordinates large‑scale fundraising events, and manages partnerships with campus and community stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise two cohorts of 15‑20 student fellows and oversee their community volunteer programs (≈40% of time).
• Organize and execute the Lighten Up campus fundraising program, handling logistics for ~50,000 lb of donated materials and managing a $40 k revenue budget (≈30%).
• Recruit, hire, and supervise approximately 50 student workers for event staffing.
• Develop and maintain Memoranda of Understanding with community partners and coordinate volunteer teams.
• Lead the Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program, including staff management, trip leader recruitment, partner relations, safety oversight, and a $10 k budget (≈10%).
• Coordinate the Summer Internships program in collaboration with the Career Center and community partners (≈10%).
