Program Director, Funeral Service Education

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Program Director to lead its Funeral Service Education Program. This faculty position will design and deliver curriculum, support student learning, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop weekly learning plans aligned with Student Learning Outcomes for each course.
• Deliver instruction using effective oral and written communication and current industry procedures.
• Create and maintain course syllabi and Blackboard LMS course sites.
• Assess student progress, record grades, attendance, and other required documentation.
• Maintain classroom supplies and equipment, and manage budget requests for instructional resources.
• Advise students on academic and occupational pathways and participate in recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, TCSG, and accreditation standards.
• Participate in departmental committees, college projects, and professional development.

Required profile

• Earned bachelor’s degree; willingness to obtain a master’s degree within five years in a related field (e.g., Mortuary Science, Biology, Microbiology, Pathology, Psychology, Sociology, Business Management).
• Graduate of an ABFSE‑accredited Funeral Service Education institution.
• Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the state of Georgia.
• Academic background meeting ABFSE leadership criteria.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Blackboard Learning Management System.
