Program Dentist (VLD) – Faculty Position

About the role

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College seeks a qualified Program Dentist (VLD) to lead pre‑clinical and clinical instruction for Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs. This faculty role combines classroom teaching, hands‑on supervision, and program development to ensure high‑quality dental education.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise preclinical and clinical sessions, including patient evaluation, radiographic prescribing, diagnosis, and anesthesia administration.
• Teach dental science courses such as dental biology, anatomy, pharmacology, periodontology, oral pathology, and dental anesthesia.
• Evaluate student performance, provide advisement, and ensure a safe clinical environment.
• Participate in curriculum management, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support CODA accreditation activities and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Current certification and credentials appropriate for dental assisting and dental hygiene practice.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and dental education.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion for underrepresented and disabled students.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and college administration.

Required skills

• Radiography prescribing and interpretation.
• Anesthesia administration in a dental setting.
• Proficiency in dental assisting and dental hygiene procedures.
• Knowledge of dental biology, anatomy, pharmacology, periodontology, and oral pathology.
• Curriculum development and accreditation processes.
