Program Coordinator – Youth Development

About the role

Exalt is expanding its youth‑justice program to Syracuse, NY and seeks a Program Coordinator to oversee the full lifecycle of participants aged 15‑19 who have been involved with the criminal justice system. The role blends analytical thinking with hands‑on support, guiding young people from intake through pre‑internship training, internship placement, and post‑internship reflection.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews, assessments, and selection of youth referrals.
• Design, launch, and manage multiple program “cycles” each fiscal year, including a four‑week Pre‑Internship Preparation class, a four‑week Internship Phase with weekly seminars, and a one‑week Post‑Internship synthesis.
• Monitor participant progress, develop individualized growth plans, and provide ongoing coaching toward academic, employment, and justice‑avoidance goals.
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher, external stakeholders, schools, and criminal‑justice partners to coordinate resources and placements.
• Collect and analyze program data to inform continuous improvement and strategic expansion.

• Experience managing youth programs or similar educational initiatives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with participants, educators, and community partners.
