Program Chair & Physical Therapist Assistant

About the role

Join the State of Georgia’s education team as the Program Chair for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Georgia Piedmont Technical College. This full‑time faculty position leads curriculum development, quality assurance, and student mentorship across classroom, simulation, and clinical settings.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the program’s mission, philosophy, curriculum, syllabi, goals, and outcomes.
• Oversee continuous quality assessment, improvement initiatives, and compliance with college and state reporting requirements.
• Manage the department budget and assist with accreditation processes, including CAPTE.
• Provide direction, mentorship, and critique to students in classroom, simulation labs, and clinical practice.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to enhance program visibility and community engagement.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Active Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant license in Georgia (or eligibility).
• Minimum three years of teaching experience in a healthcare or PT education program.
• Experience in curriculum development and writing.
• Current CPR certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Blackboard Learning Management System.
• Knowledge of CAPTE accreditation standards and processes.
• CPR certification and, preferably, CPR Instructor certification.
