About the role

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Professional Social Services Worker to provide rehabilitation counseling, intake, and mental‑health assessment services to youth at the Gainesville RYDC facility. This part‑time position works under broad supervision and supports the emotional and social development of assigned clients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake services and mental‑health screenings for youth, ensuring completion within policy timelines.
• Perform comprehensive mental‑health assessments, interview youth and families, and coordinate with health‑care professionals to gather background information.
• Develop and document treatment or crisis‑management plans based on assessment findings.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling to promote positive behavioral change.
• Make referrals to appropriate providers and maintain accurate records of assessments, referrals, and treatment plans.

Required profile

• Under broad supervision, able to follow agency policies and confidentiality regulations.
• Strong interview and assessment skills with the ability to identify psychosocial stressors, strengths, and risks.
• Effective communication with youth, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
