Professional-in-Residence – Political Communication Faculty

About the role

The LSU Manship School of Mass Communication seeks a distinguished communications practitioner to join the faculty as a Professional-in-Residence in Political Communication. This nine‑month, non‑tenure‑track appointment begins in Spring 2027 and focuses on teaching undergraduate courses within the political communication curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Teach four undergraduate courses each semester, covering topics such as political communication writing, capstone projects, media and policy processes, and related media writing courses.
• Provide service to the school by advising student organizations and participating in departmental activities in lieu of a fourth teaching load.
• Contribute to the Manship School’s undergraduate core curriculum as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in mass communication, political science, public policy, or a related field (Juris Doctor considered).
• At least 7 years of professional experience in governmental relations, political affairs, or a comparable area.
• Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
