About the role
Oceaneering is hiring a Production Supervisor for its Marine Services Division in Chesapeake, VA. The role leads skilled‑trades staff, ensures compliance with safety, quality, SUBSAFE and other industry standards, and coordinates production activities across shipbuilding projects.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, assign and direct daily production work for trades staff.
- Provide training, guidance and performance feedback to team members.
- Monitor compliance with federal and company safety procedures, including proper PPE use.
- Identify and remove production road‑blocks, securing needed resources and materials.
- Resolve technical issues related to drawings, schematics, MIL‑STDs, SUBSAFE requirements and production processes.
- Communicate progress and updates to customers and internal project managers.
- Approve timesheets, ensure accurate paperwork, and maintain equipment and tool inventories.
- Conduct pre‑ and post‑shift briefs and audit work packages for completeness.
Required profile
- Associate’s degree in a mechanical discipline or high school/GED with an apprenticeship in a skilled trade.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in an industrial environment and 6 years of hands‑on installation/maintenance on Navy vessels.
- U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- Preferred experience with SUBSAFE/Level I material work and submarine structural closures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of naval ship repair procedures and combat weapons/launcher systems.
Required skills
- SUBSAFE compliance and Level I material handling.
- Interpretation of technical drawings, schematics and MIL‑STDs.
- Maintenance and testing of submarine hatches, watertight doors and related systems.
- Knowledge of submarine hull, mechanical/electrical systems and torpedo‑room equipment.
- Experience supervising multiple trades on shipbuilding projects.
