Production Planner – High‑Volume Manufacturing

About the role

The Production Planner will ensure seamless manufacturing operations at Tesla’s Megafactory, aligning capacity with demand and supporting rapid growth of energy products. This position blends strategic planning, data‑driven analysis, and hands‑on execution in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules that match capacity to demand, guaranteeing on‑time delivery of fabricated components.
• Perform capacity and throughput analysis to inform production roadmap decisions and long‑term planning.
• Partner with manufacturing and support teams to design, implement, and continuously improve just‑in‑time and line‑side Kanban delivery systems.
• Respond to unplanned changes by assessing impacts, recommending options, and ensuring alignment across downstream operations.
• Generate and present production performance metrics, forecasts, and risk assessments to proactively address supply‑demand challenges.
• Communicate production plans, changes, and performance clearly to manufacturing, supply chain, and business stakeholders.
• Represent Production in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, aligning operational priorities with business goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering/Operations Research, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in high‑volume, large‑scale production planning within manufacturing (automotive, energy, or high‑tech preferred).
• Strong analytical and statistical modeling abilities for capacity planning and forecasting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Data‑visualization tools such as Tableau.
• Lean Manufacturing methodology.
• Six Sigma or similar process‑improvement certification.
