Production Operator (Plastic Sheet)

About the role

The Production Operator works on 12‑hour shifts in a 2‑2‑3 schedule at Spartech’s Greenville facility, producing specialty plastic sheet products such as PETG face shields, COVID barriers, and flame‑retardant Royalite® components for aerospace and transportation.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, start, and run extrusion and blending machinery while following safety and ISO procedures.
• Weigh and load ingredients or pre‑blended materials to meet recipe specifications.
• Monitor production equipment, troubleshoot issues, and refer problems to the Production Lead or Shift Supervisor.
• Operate machinery to mix, extrude, discharge, or handle materials according to standard operating procedures.
• Visually inspect materials, take samples for lab analysis, and adjust batches as instructed.
• Perform routine machine cleaning, maintain data integrity, and complete required logs and reports.
• Participate in training, continuous‑improvement activities, and uphold housekeeping and safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Average math and reading skills; ability to use a calculator, scale, tape measure (1/16" increments), and micrometer (1/1000" increments).
• Forklift certification (must be obtainable).
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
• Previous manufacturing experience, especially in plastic extrusion, is highly considered.
