Production Manager (Shingle Line)

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is looking for a Production Manager for its Kankakee facility. This is a hands-on, leadership-driven role overseeing plant operations and fostering collaboration across Quality, Maintenance, HR and Logistics, with a focus on Lean/continuous improvement, employee development and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coach production supervisors and employees to meet safety, environmental, quality, cost and service goals
• Work with the Quality Control Coordinator to ensure finished products meet customer requirements through continuous improvement
• Partner with the Maintenance Supervisor to keep equipment reliable and efficient
• Support the reliability strategy, including involving production employees in TPM
• Work with Shipping and Receiving to optimize the manufacturing schedule and adjust it to customer needs
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean concepts such as Kaizen events with production and maintenance teams
• Ensure employee training in quality, safety and processes is effective, and mentor direct reports
• Maintain a highly engaged workforce and work with HR on performance management, staffing and employee development
• Keep the plant clean and run a 5S program

Required profile

• Technical four-year degree
• At least 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
• Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is a plus
• Experience with continuous improvement initiatives including Lean
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, team-building ability and hands-on problem solving

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Lean manufacturing and Kaizen
