Production Manager - 2nd Shift

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Production Manager for its 2nd shift in Friendship. The manager leads the plant across administration, production, processing, packaging, scheduling, sanitation, quality, purchasing, safety and environmental matters, acting as the link between the plant and distribution, quality, maintenance and regulatory personnel. The goal is to deliver customer orders at the lowest possible cost while keeping safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze plant operations and key metrics to maintain high quality and safety standards.
• Manage expenses, including shrink, labor and overhead, using continuous improvement methods, and analyze downtime with root cause analysis.
• Develop, update and maintain standard operating procedures and ensure products meet regulatory standards.
• Support internal and external audits and state/federal regulatory compliance.
• Assist technical support staff with customer complaints and product quality issues.
• Plan, train, evaluate, organize, delegate and manage employees, including selection, retention, development, discipline and performance management.
• Lead by example with the Saputo Code of Ethics and values.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree preferred, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Internal candidates: at least 5 years of hands-on plant experience in a dairy or food plant, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
• Good verbal and written communication, organization, prioritization and attention to detail.
• Ability to lead others through change and handle multiple tasks at once.

Required skills

• Proficient understanding of budgeting and cost control.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Working knowledge of OSHA GISO and workers' compensation claims.
• Microsoft Office Suite; SAP is a plus.
