Product Quality Engineer

About the role

ON.energy is seeking a Product Quality Engineer to support the Product Quality Manager on utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The role focuses on executing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and overseeing supplier quality to ensure that critical equipment meets contractual and technical specifications before shipment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, perform, witness and monitor FATs and in‑process inspections at OEM and supplier sites for batteries, PCS/inverters, transformers, switchgear, EMS and auxiliary systems.
• Review and approve FAT procedures, test scripts and acceptance criteria against contractual and technical requirements.
• Identify, document and track FAT‑related non‑conformances, support root‑cause analysis and drive corrective/preventive actions.
• Coordinate third‑party inspectors when required and conduct on‑site quality inspections during construction, installation and commissioning phases.
• Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Project Quality Management Plans.
• Maintain accurate inspection reports, FAT reports, checklists and digital quality records.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in quality assurance for utility‑scale BESS projects.
• Proven ability to execute and document Factory Acceptance Tests.
• Experience managing non‑conformance reports and supporting corrective‑action processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as an individual contributor.

Required skills

• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of BESS equipment.
• Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) management.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective‑preventive action (CAPA) processes.
• Knowledge of batteries, power conversion systems, transformers, switchgear, EMS and auxiliary systems.
• Use of digital inspection and reporting platforms.
